HOW TO FIND IP ADDRESS

IP address are the address of your device in the network. It is useful to identify the two basic details - it will identify the device & second it will identify the location of the device.

There are two types of the versions of it - IPv4 and then there is a newest version of it - IPv6. Most of the devices shares these versions across the globe & out of these two first one - IPv4 is still referred as preferred method for IP addressing.

So let's understand how you can find the IP address of your device. There are many ways through which you can find the IP address assigned. Out of these we will talk about the famous & easy way to find it-

Method 1. Using Command Prompt:

Step 1. The most easiest way to find the IP address is through command prompt. 

Step 2. All you need to do is open command prompt by pressing windows key + R simultaneously.

Step 3. Enter cmd into the text field & hit enter. 

Step 4. Now type ipconfig into the command prompt & hit enter

Step 5. This will show you the IP address of your device & all other basic network details of your device.

Step 6. The number shown in front of IPv4 is IP address of your device.

Method 2. Using control panel:

Step 1. The most easiest way to find the IP address is through command prompt. 

Step 2. All you need to do is open command prompt by pressing windows key + R simultaneously.

Step 3. Enter control panel into the text field & hit enter. 

Step 4. This will open the control panel window

Step 5. Now click on the Network & Internets > Network and sharing options

Step 6. Click on the Change adapter setting and select the network to which you are connect currently.

Step 7. This will open a pop up window. click on details button.

Step 8. Here you are. You can note the IPv4 address as your IP address.

 

Method 3. Using the network option in the system tray

Step 1. Click on the network/wifi icon in the system tray.

Step 2. Click on the network setting

Step 3. Click on the Change adapter option and select the network to which you are connected.

Step 4. This will open a pop up window. click on details button.

Step 5. Here you are. You can note the IPv4 address as your IP address.

1.What happened to IPv5?
Ans. IPv5 was developed as version 5 of the IP family as experimental purpose in 1980s but it was never implemented.
2.Can my device will be hacked if anyone knows my IP?
Ans. Yes. If someone knows address of your valuable then it is prone to cyber attack. So never share your IP address with anyone.
